As well as creating our indie music video, we have created a CD cover. The CD cover included the front cover, the inlay to the CD, the back of the CD and the CD sticker.
We made several drafts of what we wanted our CD covers to look like. We used the software Disc Cover, in order to create the following drafts.
DRAFT ONE

For our first draft we chose a picture of the band in a line to represent their unity as a band. We also changed the image to grey scale so that it looks more conventional of the indie genre. We thought that this image went well with our chosen genre so we decided to keep this for our final CD cover. We also liked the font used in the name of the song, however we were not so keen on the font used for the bands name '4 Kicks' due it not been bold enough, so chose not to use it.
DRAFT TWO

As before we decided to keep the background image as it worked so well. We felt the way the band were standing in a line represented their unity and friendship. However, in this mock up, we decided to change the band name font, in this draft we felt it stood out a lot more. We still felt as though the title needed to be bigger, to make a greater impact. We changed the title of the songs positioning but felt as though it took attention away from the band name.
FINAL COVER

This CD was our final product, the title of the band was made larger and bolder, with a slight subtle transparency that meant it stood out but did not look too forced and out of place. The song title was shortened to 'I never get lost', we felt this suited the CD cover a lot better and would also be a lot sharper and shorter, giving a more dramatic impact.
FINAL BACK COVER
The back of our CD cover is a simple shot of the back of the band members. This works due to the back of the CD being the back of the band. It also adds an slight sense of mystery and would make you curious as to what the characters look like, or what they are 'hiding'. We kept the text to a minimum and simply wrote the titles of the songs that were included.
FINAL CD INLAY
The CD inlay gives the audience a chance to look at each band member in greater detail. The way in which the band members are in a similar setting and all wearing similar clothing gives them an equal status. The colours are all fairly 'male' associated and therefore give a masculine impression to the audience that are viewing the image.
